You will play an important part in the day-to-day operation and presentation of the company’s buildings. Working across a London property portfolio, you will assist in undertaking general maintenance and minor repairs, conduct building inspections and ensure all health and safety checks are completed and recorded accurately.
This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work, can manage their own task list and understands the importance of completing maintenance activity professionally within occupied commercial buildings.
Key responsibilities- Complete daily building walks and identify maintenance requirements.
- Follow up outstanding maintenance tasks within allocated buildings.
- Work closely with building teams to ensure repairs are completed promptly.
- Keep building staff informed about work that may affect clients.
- Undertake and accurately record required health and safety checks.
- Maintain clear testing records for audits.
- Plan and organise daily tasks in conjunction with the Building Manager.
- Keep supplier contact, stock and building information up to date.
- Respond promptly to requests from the Head of Operations and building teams.
- Maintain accurate records using the company’s systems and software.
- Keep maintenance areas, cupboards and workspaces clean and organised.
- Ensure consistently high visual and presentation standards across all buildings.
- Painting and decorating.
- Preparing, sanding and filling walls.
- Minor low-voltage electrical tasks, including changing light bulbs.
- Minor plumbing repairs and unblocking toilets.
- Repairing door handles, hinges and closers.
- Hanging whiteboards, televisions and artwork.
- Laying carpet tiles and moving floor boxes.
- Minor tiling work.
- Building and moving furniture.
- Sweeping courtyards and supporting the general upkeep of communal areas.
- Practical knowledge of basic plumbing and electrical systems.
- Experience using hand and power tools safely.
- Knowledge of common building materials, paints and finishes.
- An understanding of suitable fixings, mounting brackets and weight limitations.
- Aware of current health and safety requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- A proactive approach and excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- The ability to organise a task list and remain motivated without constant supervision.
- Willingness to work within a busy, client-facing environment.
- Previous building maintenance experience within commercial or residential properties.
- Good geographical knowledge of London.
- Basic IT skills.
- Five GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent.
