The engineer will require a broad skill set with excellent problem solving and analytical skills in addition to a strong automation and programmatic, Infrastructure as Code, approach to systems management.
The Role: You will be part of the Information Technology (IT) team that demonstrates superb technical ability, working in a challenging environment, supporting the business in day-to-day operations. The primary responsibility of this position is to develop, maintain, continuously improve and support internal IT infrastructure. Manage the deployment, maintenance, and upgrade paths of Linux infrastructure and public cloud resources. Identify, deploy, and maintain appropriate hybrid connectivity options across environments. Maintain and test Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) plans and systems across Private and Public Cloud environments. Contribute to the overall quality of service delivered to internal users and clients. Support the team in handling and resolving critical technical incidents.
- Design: Contribute to the roadmap for the development and evolution of systems and multi-cloud infrastructure to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, cost-effective, and aligned with future business needs. Architect and standardise scalable cloud landing zones, hybrid network topologies, and cross-platform infrastructure patterns across AWS, Azure, and on-premises Linux environments. Design robust, automated Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) modules and pipelines using Terraform and Ansible to ensure reproducible, security-compliant provisioning across all environments. Lead architectural design reviews for new workload migrations and deployments, defining criteria for high availability, fault tolerance, and automated disaster recovery.
- Continuous improvement: Drive infrastructure automation (IaC) and design improvements for efficient support of environments, applications, and clients. Actively contribute to increasing service availability through iterative improvements to Linux Private Cloud and Public Cloud solutions. Maintain, update, and continuously improve standardized enterprise WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) images built via Infrastructure as Code (IaC) workflows to provide consistent, secure developer environments.
The Person:
- Technical: Linux Specialism: Deep knowledge and proven hands-on experience managing an enterprise Linux estate in a corporate environment (especially Red Hat-based), with strong working knowledge of Red Hat Satellite, IDM, and Ansible Automation Platform (AAP). Public Cloud Expertise: Strong, proven hands-on experience designing, architecting, and managing Public Cloud platforms (Azure and AWS) in production environments. Ability to manage time, prioritise workloads, and work effectively under pressure. Self-starter possessing a proactive nature, while remaining process- and quality-driven. Business-minded and focused on value creation; passionate about solving real business needs rather than using technology for technology's sake.
