We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Estimator to join our team on a contract basis in Rayleigh, Essex. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in building services who can accurately price projects and contribute to successful tender submissions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical and electrical projects across commercial and/or residential sectors
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour estimates
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
  • Evaluate tender documents and identify potential risks and opportunities
  • Produce accurate take-offs and bills of quantities
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients during the tender process
  • Support value engineering and cost-saving initiatives
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market rates and industry trends

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an M&E Estimator within the construction or building services industry
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and installations
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and organisational skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

Desirable

  • Relevant qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering
  • Experience working on projects in the UK construction sector
  • Familiarity with NEC or JCT contracts
