BSS, part of Travis Perkins plc, are now hiring for an exceptional Head of Finance to join our senior leadership team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our business. This is far more than a traditional financial reporting role. You'll be a trusted advisor to directors, a leader of high-performing finance and administration teams, and a key contributor to strategic decision-making across a complex multi-company group.

The Opportunity

As Head of Finance, reporting into the Finance Director, you will lead all aspects of financial reporting, management accounting, budgeting, and financial control across multiple business entities, and provide business partnering across two business entities. You'll oversee a team of 39 people, provide financial leadership to operational and regional management teams, and ensure the business has the accurate, timely information needed to make informed decisions. You'll also play a key role in driving continuous improvement across finance systems, processes and strategic projects.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading the production of monthly management accounts, group reporting and financial analysis
  • Providing commercial insight and financial support to directors and senior operational leaders
  • Driving business performance through effective finance business partnering
  • Owning the annual budgeting and forecasting process
  • Ensuring robust financial controls, governance and balance sheet integrity
  • Managing year-end reporting and external audit relationships
  • Leading and developing finance and administration teams
  • Acting as a key stakeholder for finance systems and process improvement initiatives
  • Supporting strategic business projects and transformation programmes
  • Working collaboratively across multiple business units to deliver consistent, high-quality financial reporting

About You

You'll be an experienced finance leader who combines strong technical expertise with excellent commercial awareness and stakeholder management skills.

Essential

  • Fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant
  • Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience
  • Strong financial and management accounting background
  • Experience leading and developing teams
  • Proven ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience presenting financial information to operational and executive audiences
  • Deep understanding of financial controls, accounting standards and audit requirements
