Travis Talent is recruiting urgently on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business based in Sheffield for an experienced Finance Controller. This is a senior, influential role within the site leadership team, suited to a commercially minded finance professional who is confident challenging spend, driving financial discipline, and communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
The Role
Reporting into senior site leadership, the Finance Controller will play a pivotal role in supporting operational and strategic decision-making across the business. You will act as a trusted finance partner, balancing robust financial control with commercial insight.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a strategic and tactical finance partner to site leadership
- Full ownership of month-end close, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Managing budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
- Providing clear, insightful financial analysis to support decision-making
- Challenging costs and spending behaviour across the operation
- Monitoring and explaining variances, identifying risks and opportunities
- Ownership of balance sheet reconciliations
- Supporting continuous improvement in financial processes and controls
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
- Proven experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong background in cost accounting, standard costing and absorption
- Confident communicator, able to influence non-finance stakeholders
- Commercially astute with the confidence to challenge and question
- Proactive, inquisitive mindset with a drive to improve performance
