The Opportunity
Travis Talent is proud to be recruiting for a well-established and growing manufacturing client based in Halifax. This is an excellent opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join a forward-thinking engineering team, playing a key role in driving operational excellence across the business.
You will act as a true change agent, leading improvement initiatives, enhancing manufacturing processes, and delivering measurable gains in efficiency, quality, and cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver continuous improvement and innovation projects across the site.
- Analyse existing manufacturing processes and implement improvements to drive efficiency and quality.
- Reduce waste and non-value-added activities (NVA), improving standard times.
- Support and lead problem-solving activities within production, delivering sustainable solutions.
- Design and improve tooling and processes using CAD systems.
- Participate in Process and Design FMEA activities.
- Ensure robust documentation control and adherence to internal and industry standards.
- Provide technical support and data-driven analysis to support decision-making.
- Contribute to capital investment and wider engineering projects.
What We're Looking For
- Strong background in continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.
- Practical experience with Lean methodologies (DMAIC, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Proven ability to analyse data and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Experience using CAD (e.g. SolidWorks or similar).
- Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. Sage, Syspro) is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to influence and drive change across teams.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- HNC/HND in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
- Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt (highly desirable).
- Project management experience.
