Recruiting on behalf of a Sheffield-based client, Travis Talent is delighted to be supporting a well-established Sheffield business in their search for an experienced Supply Chain Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a broad end-to-end supply chain function, leading key teams across Purchasing, Production Planning, Warehousing and Customer Service.

The Role

  • Purchasing & Supplier Management
    • Oversee purchasing of raw materials and subcontract manufacturing.
    • Strengthen supplier relationships to improve quality, cost, and lead times.
    • Develop purchasing policies and negotiate supply agreements, including dual-sourcing strategies.
    • Monitor supplier performance and inventory levels against agreed targets.
  • Production Planning
    • Lead continuous improvement of sales and operations planning processes.
    • Maintain appropriate stock levels for product lines.
    • Work closely with Production teams to optimise schedules and lead times.
    • Support engineering changes, product updates, and new product introductions to ensure smooth material flow.
  • Customer Service
    • Lead, coach, and develop the Customer Service team.
    • Ensure timely and accurate order despatch and communication with both customers and internal stakeholders.
    • Manage finished goods inventory, invoicing and traceability.
  • International Operations
    • Support international customers across multiple regions.
    • Prepare export and shipping documentation (invoices, certificates, packing lists etc.).
    • Manage courier contracts, pricing and compliance.
    • Approve courier invoices and process purchase orders for external services.
  • Quality & Compliance
    • Oversee production release, batch records and traceability within the QMS.
    • Maintain and update documentation covering Procurement, Planning, Goods-In, Production and Customer Service.
    • Provide departmental cover during absence.
  • Safety, Health, Environment & Facilities
    • Supervise the SHEF Engineer to ensure compliance with relevant HSE and environmental standards.
    • Oversee contractors, maintenance, waste management and site services.
    • Manage utility contracts and support ESG reporting.

About You

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Experience in at least two of the following: Purchasing, Production Planning or Customer Service, with a desire to develop in the third.
  • Strong ERP experience (Microsoft Dynamics AX preferred).
  • Solid purchasing and supply chain management experience.
  • Degree-level education (CIPS qualification desirable).
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and commercial skills.
  • A collaborative, ethical and improvement-focused mindset.
