Joining our friendly and hard working family as an experienced Transport Manager, the successful candidate would lead a small team of HGV Drivers, all responsible for ensuring stock is moved efficiently and safely within the branch. Youâll make sure we deliver our products on time, in full, every time to local customers that expect the best from one of the largest suppliers of building materials. It means keeping a close eye on costs, resources and efficiency. In short, making sure everything runs like clockwork.
But itâs not just a case of planning deliveries. Youâll need to coach your team and make sure they provide a firstâclass, professional service. The biggest priority is safety, so youâll also check that Drivers comply with the law and that vehicles are inspected.
What will I be doing?
- Responsible for the compliance and efficient management of the branch transport operation and the improvement of driver standards
- Responsible for ensuring full compliance for vehicles and drivers, the reporting and management of accidents
- Meeting agreed Transport/Fleet targets - utilisation and capacity targets
- Planning / routing deliveries
- Youâll be a true leader, capable of developing and motivating your direct reports
- Safety is at the forefront of everything we do, your aim will be to ensure that our standards never slip, by adhering to all stay safe policies and procedures
- Be responsible for the success of a vital area of our business
- Working with the whole branch team to ensure great customer service is achieved
- Playing a key part in stock management including goods in and out, and stock take
What experience do you need?

- Proven experience of managing a small transport fleet

- Advantageous to have an understanding of CPC driver modules
- Along with having the ability to provide great customer service and have experience in a similar role, we can teach you the rest.
