Overview
In this role you drive growth in the utilities segment for Keyline, acting as a regional authority for customers, suppliers and branches. You translate complex technical enquiries into winning packages and coach local negotiators to win high-value tenders. You’ll own quote enquiries, re-activate dormant accounts, and build stock solutions to shorten contractor lead times. You work with cross-branch teams to secure repeat project spend and expand market share in the North.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage quote enquiries from initial contact to order award, ensuring profitable margins
- Re-engage low-spend/dormant accounts and convert them back to regular trading
- Lead complex, high-value tenders with actionable win plans for branches
- Create dedicated stock packages to address contractor lead-time constraints
- Coach branch teams on live enquiries to enable independent trading
- Maximise opportunities across trench scope (pipe, jointing, duct protection, valve housing, finishings)
- Develop and maintain relationships with regional contractors, suppliers and customers to grow market share
Key requirements
- 2+ years in a utility merchant, pipeline specialist or utility contractor environment
- Track record with clean and wastewater enquiries, technical specs and contractor schedules
- Confidence in quoting, estimating and negotiating prices over the phone
- Strong product knowledge of PE pressure pipe, barrier pipe systems, electrofusion fittings, gate valves, boundary boxes and access chambers
- Practical understanding of Water Authority adoption standards (G81 / regional spec books) and profitable full trench quotes
- Proactive outbound mindset and willingness to coach others rather than perform every task
