You’ll work a twilight shift, Monday to Friday, 2pm–10pm, leading a fast‑paced distribution centre operation and helping to create an environment where colleagues can thrive. We’re looking for an enthusiastic, resilient and people‑focused Shift Manager to join our growing business. In this role, you’ll take full responsibility for the distribution centre operation during your shift, leading a team of up to five team leaders and more than eighty colleagues. You’ll ensure the shift is well‑organised, fully supported and consistently delivers against operational targets. Your leadership will play a key role in driving productivity, accuracy and continuous improvement, while creating a positive and motivated team culture. Most importantly, you’ll champion a safe working environment where health and safety always comes first, and where every colleague feels valued, supported and able to perform at their best.
Health & SafetyYou’ll champion a strong health and safety culture across the shift, ensuring safe working practices are consistently followed. You’ll drive compliance with SOPs and SSOWs, identify trends and implement improvements to maintain a safe and efficient operation.
OperationalLeading through your management team, you’ll ensure operational KPIs and transport SLAs are achieved, while driving efficiency and identifying cost‑saving opportunities. You’ll oversee reporting, manage performance issues promptly and ensure operational processes and data preparation are completed accurately and on time. You’ll work closely with the leadership team, communicating updates and escalating issues where required.
Customer FocusYou’ll keep the customer at the centre of decision‑making, identifying opportunities to improve service and operational performance. You’ll build strong relationships across departments and contribute to commercial review meetings with insight into customer challenges and improvement opportunities.
PeopleYou’ll lead by example to create a positive, engaged and high‑performing team culture. Through clear communication, coaching and regular team briefings, you’ll support colleagues’ development and encourage continuous improvement. You’ll also ensure HR processes and performance reviews are completed effectively and on time.
What You’ll Bring- At least 2 years’ experience in a large‑scale logistics or warehouse environment
- Strong understanding of fast‑paced warehouse and distribution centre operations
- The ability to make effective decisions and perform well under pressure
- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, coach and develop teams
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience managing large, multi‑skilled teams
- Strong analytical skills and confidence using IT systems and data to support decision‑making
