We are Travis Perkins.

Leading our industry for over two centuries, we've built our early foundations into a nationwide business that gives customers the products they need, with the smile they deserve.

We’re proudly part of Travis Perkins plc., the UK’s largest distributor of building materials, providing unrivalled customer service from over 1,400 branches across the UK.

What’s it like to be a Management Trainee?

This isn’t just a trainee role; it’s your entry into the engine room of the UK construction industry.

We’re offering you the chance to lay the foundations for an exceptional management career with one of the industry’s most recognised brands.

Programme Overview

Forget the mundane 9-to-5.

Our bespoke, 24-month scheme is a fast‑track immersion into our dynamic operations.

You'll gain a deep, hands‑on understanding of the entire merchanting lifecycle, rotating through all branch areas and moving rapidly into a management development pathway designed to equip you with the skills needed to lead a high‑performing team.

You’ll be right in the thick of the action, playing a pivotal role in our team.

From managing stock in the yard to mastering sales techniques on the trade counter, handling phone enquiries and emails, and even shadowing our delivery drivers – you’ll cover it all.

You'll become an indispensable expert our customers rely on.

Year 1 Focus

Dive deep into the specialist merchant industry, market dynamics, and our business strategy.

You’ll become a product guru and a customer service superstar, all while embedding our 'safety first' approach.

Year 2 Focus

Hone your leadership style and master the art of inspiring and motivating a team.

Learning and Development

Your learning is 'on the job,' supported by a dedicated apprenticeship coach who provides 1:1 coaching, mentoring, and technical training.

Successfully complete your end point assessments to achieve two L3 Apprenticeships and fast‑track your progression with Travis Perkins plc.

(P. S. You can hear more on this from our current colleagues here. We’re consistently rated as one of the best apprenticeship employers on Rate My Apprenticeship!)

Do you have what it takes?

No experience in merchanting is necessary.

If you bring the right attitude, a hunger to learn, and the genuine drive to build a career alongside any customer service facing experience, we will teach you the rest.

We are looking for people who are

  • Safety Conscious: Keeping our colleagues safe and well is our number one priority.
  • Hard Working & Team Spirited: This environment is demanding and fast‑paced. Be ready to 'muck in,' get your hands dirty, and support your team.
  • Customer Focused: You understand what great service looks like and are ready to deliver it.
  • Adaptable: Thrive in a dynamic, ever‑changing environment as you move across different operations.
  • Authentic: "You be you, it makes us us." Let your personality and passion shine.

You must also hold a full valid UK Driving Licence and have access to your own vehicle.
