Travis Baker is recruiting for a Project Geo-Environmental Engineer to join the team based in Halesowen, West Midlands, UK. This is a full-time, permanent position. You will take ownership of smaller projects and run them to completion, continue to learn and develop proactively, address knowledge gaps and gain experience to deepen your technical experience whilst contributing to the delivery of high-quality deliverables and project outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and report on desk studies and site investigations for brownfield and greenfield developments.
- Supervise site investigations ranging in complexity and ensure familiarity with a wide range of techniques.
- Conduct contaminated land risk assessments, including for human health and controlled waters.
- Assist in the design and implementation of remediation strategies and verification works.
- Prepare technical reports, including desk studies, factual and interpretative reports, preliminary geotechnical assessment and foundation design, gas risk assessments, and remediation verification reports.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulators to ensure smooth project delivery.
Qualifications and Experience
- BSc/MSc in Environmental Science, Geology, Earth Sciences, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Typically 2–5 years’ experience in geo‑environmental consultancy or site investigation.
- Working knowledge of UK contaminated land regulations and planning frameworks.
- Experience with fieldwork techniques including soil and groundwater sampling, logging (BS5930), and monitoring.
- Strong report writing and data interpretation skills.
- Familiarity with UK contaminated land legislation, planning policy, and environmental risk assessment frameworks.
- Familiar with relevant software (e.g., logging software, GIS, CAD, Microsoft Office applications).
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the UK.
- Working towards chartership (e.g., CGeol, CEnv or similar) is desirable.
- Flexible approach, including willingness to visit sites and occasional periods of extended site supervision and overnight stays.
