Department

The role

As a Risk and Compliance paralegal, you will be expected to provide support to the lawyers within the Risk and Compliance department. You will proactively contribute to the success of the department and, ultimately, the firm, by actively seeking to anticipate the legal support needs of the team, in addition to having a full understanding of, and supporting, the crucial administrative processes that help the team function to the best of its ability.

Key responsibilities

It will, therefore, likely extend beyond the key responsibilities listed below :

  • A ssist in the preparation of documents : draft letters, amend documents, print, copy, scan and distribute files
  • Proofread documents for sense, consistency, cross referencing, definitions, formatting, and typographical errors
  • Assist with the maintenance of internal logs and risk registers
  • Assist in answering client questionnaires
  • Assist with the review of client and supplier terms and conditions
  • Perform legal and non-legal or factual research, using a variety of legal research tools for case law, legislation, company and business information and practical guidance
  • Assist with the review and analysis of documents in the context of data subject access requests and other disclosure requests
  • Assist with meeting data protection compliance requirements, such as carrying out data protection impact assessments, data transfer risk assessments and maintaining records of processing
  • Help to devise training
  • Produce guidance notes on best practices
  • Update Risk and Compliance policies and procedures
  • Assist with various Risk and Compliance project work
  • Act as the interface, where appropriate, between key internal stakeholders, including fee earners in the firm\’s various practice areas and Business Services stakeholders
  • Horizon scan and produce updates on Risk and Compliance topics
  • Liaise with the Information Security team to ensure information security best practices are implemented
  • Assist with maintaining engagement letter precedents
  • Assist the Business Acceptance team in saving signed engagement letters
  • Assist with file reviews
  • Other ad hoc duties where necessary

Education / qualifications

  • Law degree / GDL
  • LPC / SQE

We are excited to be moving from our London headquarters in Snow Hill, to a brand-new building in the City – Stonecutter Court. The move is expected to take place in early 2026.
