Department

The Food and Beverage team are at the heart of Travers Smith, embodying and showcasing the firm's values to employees and clients, in both the café, Braithwaite's, and Client Dining Rooms. This is achieved through the provision of delicious, nutritious food, made in-house, that has sustainability as it's guiding principle. Coupled with exceptional service and events that are people focused, personalised and full of warmth.

The Role

The Front of House Assistant role is all about delivering excellent service to colleagues and clients across Braithwaite's, the name for our restaurant and coffee bar. A passion for coffee, food and service is important, together with a willingness to learn and develop.

The focus of the role is on creating a welcoming experience while maintaining high standards of quality, presentation, cleanliness and professionalism at all times. Teamwork is an important part of the role. Flexibility is also required, as the role supports the wider Food & Beverage department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating and serving a range of hot and cold drinks to a high and consistent standard.
  • Delivering a professional, friendly and attentive service to colleagues and clients at all times.
  • Supporting food and drink service in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation, food safety and hygiene.
  • Keeping counters, displays, machines and service areas clean, stocked and well organised.
  • Using equipment correctly and safely and reporting any faults or issues promptly.
  • Communicating clearly with colleagues, supporting the team during busy periods and asking for guidance when unsure.
  • Following department procedures and standards consistently.
  • Taking part in training and showing a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Being flexible and supporting other areas of the Food & Beverage team when needed, such as the lunch counter.

Personal Specification - Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Passionate about coffee, food and hospitality.
  • Friendly, approachable and professional.
  • Takes pride in delivering quality and maintaining high standards with attention to detail and consistency.
  • Enjoys working independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work well with colleagues and clients and read the room.
  • Positive, reliable and willing to support others.
  • Able to stay calm, organised and tidy in a busy environment.
  • Keen to learn, take feedback and continue developing.
  • Proactive and willing to help during busy periods.
  • Previous experience in a café, restaurant, coffee bar or hospitality environment would be helpful, but we will consider candidates with no experience for the right role.
