What you'll do:
- Own the Flights experience end to end.
- Shape what's worth solving, and bring the team with you.
- Lead strategic conversations across your triad and with leadership, shaping direction and scope.
- Partner with PM and engineering from the earliest stages of scope‑setting, driving execution with craft and speed once direction is set.
- Conduct and synthesize user research to deeply understand customer problems, translating insights into clear, intuitive experiences that reduce complexity and guide users toward confident outcomes.
- Bridge user needs and business goals, making sure design has a clear voice in shaping what gets built and why.
- Prototype rapidly using tools like Claude and Cursor to explore interaction patterns early, accelerate decision‑making, and shorten the path from idea to shipped product.
- Stay current on emerging AI trends and product patterns.
- Build a clear point of view on what matters, and bring that perspective into how we design at Perk.
- Lift the team around you. Contribute to crit culture, set patterns others can build on, and raise the bar on craft across Travel.
What you'll need:
- A staff‑level IC track record, with examples of end‑to‑end ownership at scale.
- Experience designing complex, multi‑step product flows.
- Ability to move fluidly between the big question (what should this experience even do?) and the craft‑level detail that makes high‑stakes decisions feel simple.
- Strong customer empathy and design thinking.
- Fluency in data, using qualitative and quantitative signals to validate design decisions, measure impact, and inform tradeoffs.
- Demonstrated ability to influence product direction inside cross‑functional teams.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills.
- Ability to articulate design rationale, tradeoffs, and vision clearly to product, engineering, and senior stakeholders.
- AI as a working default.
- Fluency with modern prototyping tools (Claude, Cursor, Bolt) and a clear point of view on when AI belongs in the product and when it doesn't.
- Comfort with design/collaboration environments like Figma and Git.

At Perk, we take an IRL‑first approach to work, where our team works together in‑person 3 days a week. As such, this role requires you to be based within commuting distance of our hubs. We fundamentally believe in the value of meeting in real life to improve connectivity, productivity, creativity and ultimately making us a great place to work.
