Role Overview
Data Product Partner (DPP). Core mandate: be the primary data consultant, fixer, strategist, and relationship manager for a specific business domain (e.g., Customer Care, Finance, Marketing, Revenue, Spend & Control, Travel). We are open to either Regular or Senior profiles.
Responsibilities
- Relationship Management and Strategy
- Develop business data strategy and collaborate with leaders to define how data can drive their strategic goals, solve critical challenges, and uncover new opportunities.
- Identify and qualify high‑impact use cases and data initiatives that generate maximum measurable value such as revenue increase, cost reduction, or efficiency gain.
- Act as the primary translator across all disciplines, explaining the same concept in different terms to data team roles and executives.
- Proactively manage expectations, define appropriate scope, and flexible roadmaps.
- Develop product sense for data, anticipate common data quality issues, recognise when simpler solutions are better, and strategically say “no” to requests that compromise vision.
- Publicise and amplify the work to drive adoption and learning from solutions.
- Coach teams to self‑serve their preliminary investigations.
- Demand Shaping and Portfolio Management
- Focus on defining what to build and why, ensuring the right things are built.
- Define urgency, required business target date, and prioritisation that influence estimates.
- Shape and prioritise demand by translating vague requests into well‑defined, measurable projects and technical data requirements.
- Oversee the pipeline of data projects, data products, and initiatives for the business unit.
- Conduct value realisation tracking by monitoring and reporting actual business outcomes and ROI delivered by completed data projects.
- Ad‑Hoc Analysis, Triage & Intake Management
- First line of response for data questions from the business and determine the right level of effort and ownership.
- Conduct initial ad‑hoc analysis, including lightweight SQL queries, exploratory analysis in Looker, and quick validations or hypothesis testing.
- Answer simple, time‑sensitive business questions directly, clarify the underlying problem and assess feasibility, data quality, and impact.
- Triage and prioritise ad‑hoc requests, escalating to downstream teams when deeper work is required.
- Identify recurring requests that indicate a gap in dashboards or data products and convert reactive work into scalable solutions.
- Consultation and Enablement
- Provide data consulting: offer expert advice on data availability, methodology, and interpretation of insights.
- Drive data literacy and adoption by coaching teams on how to integrate data into daily decision‑making.
- Proactively surface observations, trends, or risks as actionable insights.
- Bridge the data‑to‑action gap by ensuring insights are communicated, translated, and embedded into concrete business actions.
