Overview
You will take a key role in accounting and compliance activity from APAC in a UK-based accounting Center of Excellence, as part of a team of two accountants, with responsibility for all aspects of accounting and compliance for certain legal entities within the APAC region. This role will report into a dedicated regional finance manager within Travelport's controllership function, and will sit alongside existing European and US accounting teams at Travelport's global head office in the UK.
Travelport is the brains behind lots of your travel bookings - plane, car or hotel. Our technology is used to book that magical holiday, infamous bachelorette party or long overdue school reunion. While we can't solve mosquito bites or lost luggage, we can simplify a lot of the technical parts of travel, and we're looking for the best thinkers to help us do it.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for accounting and compliance activities across specific legal entities, as well as supporting and monitoring the activities of a business process outsourcer who provides accounting support.
- Responsible for the accurate and on time filing of applicable regulatory or mandatory financial, survey and statistical returns, including direct and indirect tax returns.
- Preparation and review of complex journal entries and reconciliations during month end close.
- Provision of information for Group and local audit processes.
Qualifications
- Qualified accountant or nearly qualified, with at least 4 years of relevant experience in a large, complex organization.
- Knowledge of Chinese (Mandarin) and Traditional Chinese.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to define issues, identify options and recommend solutions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple departments.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and experience in ERP systems is essential, whilst specific experience in Oracle is an advantage.
- Immediately available is preferred.
