Tax Manager

Travelport is the brains behind lots of your travel bookings—plane, car or hotel. Our technology is used to book that magical holiday, infamous bachelorette party or long overdue school reunion. While we can’t solve mosquito bites or lost luggage, we can simplify a lot of the technical parts of travel, and we’re looking for the best thinkers to help us do it.
Your impact
We are recruiting a UK Tax Manager to join our in-house tax team. You will come on board at a truly exciting time. Working as part of a growing tax team, you will:
- Be the main contact for UK corporation tax issues.
- Co-ordinate contact between internal contributors and external advisors.
- Have the ability to expand and grow the role.
This is a brilliant opportunity for a dynamic individual to make a role their own. You will be running point for the UK but will also learn and develop new skills and have the ability to broaden the role as you see fit. You will get exposure to a wide range of different tax and commercial issues, working with the tax team and learning about the wider Travelport business.
Responsibilities
UK Direct Tax
- Prepare UK corporation tax filings (inc CIR) in Onesource Corporate Tax. Seek to identify and implement process improvements.
- Monitor impacts and opportunities of UK tax legislation changes.
- Identify and implement local tax planning opportunities to ensure that appropriate tax reliefs are obtained to reduce taxes paid while maintaining consistency with Travelport's UK Tax Strategy (eg R&D, capital allowances, etc.)
- Provide input on UK aspects of wider group tax planning/projects.
- Assist with tax audits and communicating with HMRC.
- Take ownership of the Group's Senior Accounting Officer requirements, Corporate Criminal Offence and Failure to Prevent Fraud requirements.
- Manage group payments, group relief schedules and HMRC elections.
- Coordinate and facilitate HMRC's Business Risk Reviews which includes liaison with the HR & Payroll teams.
Other Direct Tax
- Manage and co-ordinate tax filings which are prepared by external advisors in the EMEA region - Ireland, South Africa and jurisdictions with UK Branches (Israel, Portugal, Egypt and UAE).
- Manage tax payments and tax balance sheet reconciliations.
Tax Reporting
- Prepare tax disclosures in the UK/Irish financial statements in accordance with FRS102.
- Group reporting - calculate UK taxable income/CIR for on a quarterly basis uploading into TRCS tax reporting software.
- Support the wider group US GAAP reporting as and when required.
Other
- Management of CT61 returns and associated withholding tax obligations.
- Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, external advisors, external auditors and HMRC.
- Support the wider tax team with international tax compliance and advisory work if required.
- Drive the preparation of local files for portfolio companies and ensure alignment with the Group TP model with the guidance of Director, International Tax.
