As a Software Engineer on the Financial Platform team, you’ll help build the systems that ensure Perk’s financial data is accurate, traceable, and audit‑ready. You’ll work on expanding the platform to support increasingly complex financial flows, focusing on building reliable reconciliation and reporting systems that operate automatically and at scale. Rather than applying short‑term fixes, you’ll design and implement durable solutions that improve the integrity and transparency of our financial infrastructure.

You’ll also help translate and untangle complex business logic across our ERP integrations, ensuring each transaction moving through Perk is correctly represented across systems. Through thoughtful engineering practices, strong ownership, and a focus on auditability, you’ll contribute to a codebase that gives Finance and the broader business confidence in the numbers behind the platform.

At Perk, we know that the most fulfilled work occurs when you own the problem and the solution. This means taking responsibility for the entire lifecycle of a feature, from understanding our customers’ pains with Product Team and Design, to coding, deployment, and measuring impact. You will see how your technical decisions move the needle for our customers daily.

We prioritize autonomy and pragmatism, giving you the space to solve complex problems without unnecessary friction. Engineering excellence here is measured by the reliability and simplicity of the systems you build to power a global platform.

Great work happens when small cross‑functional squads come together with shared purpose. You’ll join a squad where you own a part of Perk’s domain, have a say in what gets built, and have the autonomy to make it happen. Each team decides how to contribute to Perk’s company goals – we trust you to deliver impact.

We take an IRL‑first approach – our team works together in person three days a week, so this role requires you to be based within commuting distance of our hubs. For certain roles, we also offer relocation assistance from anywhere in the world. English is the official office language.

AI is embedded in our workflow. We use AI across Notion, Jira, GitHub, and Slack to accelerate feature specification, code review, and PR review. When production issues arise, AI surfaces context quickly. We embrace agentic coding, using AI as a collaborator, not just a co‑pilot.

Examples of What Engineers at Perk Do:

  • Make payments seamless and reliable by building systems that handle cross‑currency, payment methods, and billing setups, ensuring smooth, accurate, scalable transactions.
  • Connect Perk to the tools companies already rely on by building integrations with accounting, expense, and HR systems, and contributing to the Open API and webhooks.
  • Give travel managers the insights they need by building reporting dashboards, analytics, and sustainability features such as the GreenPerk carbon‑footprint tracker.
  • Build smart AI‑powered features that make the platform intelligent over time, such as the Juno chat assistant and AI that classifies support emails.
  • Keep users safe and companies in control by working on identity and access management, SSO, provisioning, roles, permissions, and approval workflows.
  • Empower customer support to deliver a 7‑star experience by building internal tools that help the care team resolve issues faster.
  • Strengthen the platform infrastructure by contributing to core systems powering the web application and services, keeping them reliable, fast, and scalable.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Product Mindset: Ships features iteratively with a focus on measurable user impact and rapid feedback.
  • CS Fundamentals: Applies solid CS fundamentals to build performant, scalable logic.
  • Quality & Testing: Ensures code quality via unit and integration tests, code reviews, and documentation.
  • Frontend: Builds responsive, accessible interfaces using semantic HTML, CSS, and modern React patterns.
  • Backend & Integrations: Constructs robust APIs and 3rd‑party integrations, with resilience via error handling, retries, and idempotency.
  • Observability: Utilizes logs, metrics, and traces to monitor feature health and troubleshoot production.
  • Collaboration: Partners effectively with Product and Design to refine requirements and evaluate technical feasibility.
  • Growth: Adopts new technologies quickly and seeks feedback for continuous improvement.
