Travelex is the global leader in foreign currency, serving over 37 million customers annually. Our Finance team—and in particular, the Head of Accounting & Reporting—plays a vital role in supporting this success. In this role, you’ll lead the implementation and optimisation of accounting and reporting processes across Travelex Europe. You’ll be responsible for delivering timely, accurate statutory and compliance audits, working closely with an Assistant Accountant and our Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Mumbai. This is a high-impact position with the opportunity to shape audit practices, enhance financial close procedures, and apply both technical expertise and practical experience to deliver high-quality financial reporting.

The role demands strong technical expertise, with in-depth knowledge of IFRS being essential. Familiarity with Dutch GAAP and the Dutch regulatory environment would be advantageous. The ideal candidate will bring solid audit experience, along with the ability to influence external stakeholders, coordinate cross-functional and cross-regional activities, and effectively manage financial processes and disciplines.

Key accountabilities

  • Responsible for delivering monthly accounts and reports as well as leading the Management Business Review for the region.
  • Management and delivery of the annual statutory audits (Group and local) in a timely and accurate manner as well as delivering regulatory compliance audits/reviews.
  • Responsible for all local regulatory reporting (DNB, statistical reporting etc).
  • Manage VAT and tax responsibilities.
  • Responsible for local and group cash flow forecast and working capital planning.
  • Part of the local C&R committee and responsible for Finance risk overview.
  • Accountable for a strong internal control environment and the oversight of the accuracy of regional financial information.
  • Advising and supporting the other departments on financial matters and stimulating cost awareness within Travelex.
  • Responsible for maintaining good relationships with regulators and stakeholders and ensuring knowledge sharing within the organization.
  • Managing the delivery and development of 2 direct reports and the delivery of services and service levels from the GCC.

Role-specific experience and skills

  • Qualified accountant (ACA).
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge of IFRS.
  • Good knowledge of FCCS and Oracle.
  • A flexible, dynamic, and positive approach, with excellent business partnership skills who is able to work across organisational boundaries.
  • Tenacity, drive, the ability to operate and make key decisions effectively in a demanding environment and able to provide constructive challenge.
  • The ability to inspire teams to deliver in challenging circumstances, recognising the need to motivate and develop whilst maintaining pace and juggling priorities.
  • Comprehensive attention to detail with the ability to articulate key issues and a willingness to get into the detail.
  • Proven ability to lead a regional finance team, focusing on results, proactively solving problems and supporting the business with solutions.
