What Is the Opportunity? The role requires a working command of the insurance value chain - how risk originates and flows from insured through retail broker, wholesale broker and MGA to carrier, where underwriting authority is held or delegated at each step. It requires an understanding of insurance financials: rate adequacy and loss ratio development, the acquisition cost stack, expense ratio drivers, and differing level of the capital intensity and volatility of a class. And it requires a commercial read on two markets that behave very differently - a subscription London Market shaped by Lloyd's oversight, lead and follow economics, facilities and delegated authority, and a retail market shaped by broker consolidation, carrier panel rationalisation, schemes and e-trade. We are looking for someone who brings that understanding on day one. This is a strategy advisory role, not programme, portfolio or transformation management.
