The role requires a working command of the insurance value chain - how risk originates and flows from insured through retail broker, wholesale broker and MGA to carrier, where underwriting authority is held or delegated at each step. It requires an understanding of insurance financials: rate adequacy and loss ratio development, the acquisition cost stack, expense ratio drivers, and differing level of the capital intensity and volatility of a class. And it requires a commercial read on two markets that behave very differently - a subscription London Market shaped by Lloyd's oversight, lead and follow economics, facilities and delegated authority, and a retail market shaped by broker consolidation, carrier panel rationalisation, schemes and e-trade.

This is a strategy advisory role, not programme, portfolio or transformation management. Provide strategic insight to inform investment prioritisation and ensure alignment with business strategy objectives.

  • Strategy Communications: Provide leadership on clear and effective communication of Travelers Europe's business strategy, working with Corporate Communications and business stakeholders to ensure visibility of strategic priorities, progress, and outcomes.

  • Trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, skilled at navigating ambiguity, shaping strategic priorities, and building consensus with senior stakeholders.
  • Embodies Travelers' values through integrity, innovation, customer focus, and a clear commitment to commercial outcomes.

Degree in Business, Economics, Strategy, Finance, or a related discipline. Understanding of the London and European insurance markets, including regulatory frameworks, customer and distribution trends, and competitive dynamics. Experience in corporate strategy, business transformation, strategic planning, or a related discipline within a complex, multi-line organisation. Strong financial and analytical acumen, with the ability to assess portfolio performance, growth opportunities, investment priorities, and key performance metrics. Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts and translate analysis into clear, compelling insight for diverse audiences. Experience working across geographies and cultures, ideally within a global financial services or insurance organisation. Relevant strategy leadership experience, including proven success in corporate strategy, management consulting, or senior strategic roles within insurance or financial services.
