Are you a highly technical 1st Party or Property Underwriter looking to develop your career into a more strategic role? We are hiring a Senior Technical Underwriter / Manager – Property to support our Retail and Specialty (Lloyd’s) lines of business. In this role, you will develop tailored Underwriting Guides to empower our teams to thrive and grow. You will work closely with Property Underwriting Officers and build excellent internal relationships with our Senior Underwriters to support the establishment and monitoring of long- and short-term underwriting strategies to effectively achieve profit and growth objectives.
Travelers Europe offers flexibility for hybrid work arrangements, typically involving three days in the office and two days at home, subject to policy changes.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to establishing and monitoring underwriting strategies aligned with market conditions and global BI appetite.
- Assist UW Officers in developing and analyzing portfolios using MI/BI data and insights from various sources.
- Identify trends through key performance metrics such as portfolio mix, underwriting performance drivers, claims performance, geography, and more.
- Support analysis to explain portfolio changes and assist in setting strategies for rate adequacy and pricing, including regulatory reporting.
- Collaborate with Product Development and Portfolio & Product Managers to develop and update underwriting guidance and best practices.
- Monitor legal, regulatory, and industry developments to inform underwriting strategies.
- Oversee and contribute to policy wordings, underwriting guidance, and product guidance, including product appetite.
- Establish and maintain underwriting and pricing guidelines, ensuring guidance repositories are up to date.
- Participate in reviews, prepare reports, and present at various underwriting and portfolio review meetings.
- Review training needs and develop training programs for Underwriters.
