Travelers Europe is looking for a Credit Controller to join us in our Redhill office! We are looking for someone with Credit Control experience within the financial services industry or insurance industry. Working as part of a team, you will collect premium due from our brokers within their credit terms. You will deal with instalment application forms and resolve broker queries that may require you to connect with our Underwriters. You will also perform reconciliations.

Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full-time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company’s discretion.

What will you do:

  • Ensure cash is collected from our brokers within credit terms.
  • Prepare, submit and maintain bad debts sent to Debt Collectors. Attend court/bankruptcy hearings and present evidence as required.
  • Provide support for colleagues on credit control related issues.
  • Agree performance targets and work towards successful achievement.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with external contacts and liaise with relevant parties internally on quality of service provided.
  • Ensure that default procedures are adhered to, liaising with other employees as necessary.
  • Establish reasons for and report on discrepancies between Travelers and broker statements.
  • Evaluate information received and communicate as appropriate to all relevant parties.
  • Prepare and send to the brokers a monthly statement of account.
  • Liaise with the Credit Control Supervisor on any account issue in excess of individual handling authority or outside personal experience.
  • Liaise with overseas partners in the collection of their debt.
  • Accurately record, input, allocate and scan cash received and sent.
  • Perform daily and monthly ledger reconciliations.
  • Process and reconcile cheque and outgoing payment requests.
  • Liaise with Credit Controllers in respect of all cash related data.
  • Any other reasonable duties.

As an employee, you are expected to act in an ethical manner at all times. You will ensure you understand all compliance and regulatory requirements for your role by completing all necessary training and certifications. Your actions and outcomes should meet local regulatory and supervisory approaches to ensure fair treatment of our customers. You will ensure you keep adequate records of all transactions undertaken with customers, brokers and all other parties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previous credit control experience.

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge:

  • Credit control experience within insurance or within a Business to Business (B2B) environment preferred.
  • Good working experience of Excel and Word.

Job Specific Technical Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Good relationship building skills both with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good I.T. System skills, MS Office Excel to Intermediate level (pivot tables and look ups).
