We are currently recruiting for a Claims Expense Control Specialist to join our team based in our Manchester office. This role would suit someone who has some experience working as a Billing Specialist, Lawyer or Costs Draftsmen who has good knowledge of litigation/CPR, Court rules and legal costs or a claims handler who has had experience of Legal bills and vendor bills.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to build relationships with both external firms and our internal claims professionals offering you a chance to leverage your current skills but also provide opportunities for professional growth, including the potential to manage loss adjuster spend. As the expense control function grows, there is scope for the role to expand into supporting the identification and management of other vendor expense control opportunities across Claim Europe.

Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company’s discretion.

What Will You Do?

  • Reviews, determines the accuracy and challenges law firm invoices ensuring compliance with Travelers’ billing policies and department specific direction and are otherwise reasonable.
  • Ensure that any required authorities are properly recorded within the claim file and e-billing platform.
  • Provide feedback to Claim Professionals regarding billing to assist with Reserving.
  • Maintain an accurate record of reductions made and any appeals/queries received.
  • Ensures prompt, accurate and efficient auditing of submitted legal fee and expense invoices and amends as appropriate.
  • Ensure accurate recording of bill reviews upon the claim file.
  • Maintains the billing tool working with IT and the enterprise on any escalated issues.
  • Produce monthly reports on progress and performance with specific vendors.
  • Provide general feedback on Claim Professional performance in managing legal resources.

What is a Must Have?

  • Previous experience working with litigation and legal billing practices, civil court rules and procedures of England and Wales or prior experience of handling complex claim litigation.
