Job Summary: Join our innovative team of Architects at the forefront of a major transformation program within the insurance industry. As a Senior Architect, you will play a pivotal role in revolutionising our technology systems. Embrace the power of AI as we integrate cutting‑edge technology across all facets of our business and technology landscape. In this exciting role, you will support the execution of architectural and technological strategies that drive the development and implementation of initiatives rooted in Common Delivery, Services‑Based Architecture, and Agility. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping our Technology and API strategies, leveraging increased automation through APIs and event‑driven architectures across our technology estate. You will provide visionary technical leadership for complex applications, guiding our team through the intricacies of modern architecture.
Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. What Will You Do?
- Participate in or lead part of efforts in association with solutions, roadmaps, and architectural recommendations.
- Depending on the size of application or scope of project, facilitate and/or execute the governance process (i.e., blueprint and design reviews) for projects.
- Implement the strategy for stability and performance of solutions (including project‑level design, debugging, and performance analysis) at the application and technology domain levels.
- Provide input into portfolio or prioritization processes and how escalation for remediation of application stability and performance will be managed for scope.
- Prioritize autonomously.
- Contribute to and influence the adoption of new concepts, ideas, techniques, best practices, and technology assistance, including guidelines and models for supported technologies.
- Collaborate with other architects, development groups, and OAI‑Sys employees.
- Participate in enterprise engagements and initiatives such as Centers of Excellence and own associated deliverables.
- Participate in development and production support of application utilities and own associated deliverables.
- Participate in vendor and product‑management strategies to establish required infrastructures and frameworks and own associated deliverables.
- Own deliverables for product evaluations and Proof of Concepts.
- Execute day‑to‑day tasks of the architectural strategy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
- Working knowledge of architecture technology directions.
- Working knowledge in enterprise, application, and information architecture.
- Working knowledge of product and/or project management and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- General knowledge of technical reference architectures in Java, .NET, SQL, and SOA.
- General knowledge of influencing people in a matrixed organization.
- Thorough knowledge of multiple technologies and architectures.
- General knowledge of Insurance industry experience.

- Extensive experience with J2EE, Web Application Development (User & B2B), Service‑Oriented Architecture & Web Services (SOAP, XML, REST), Application Frameworks (Spring, Struts, Hibernate, MVC, etc.), Middleware Technologies (WebSphere, JBoss, DataPower), Relational Database Design (DB2/400, MS SQL Server), Document, Imaging, and Web Content Management (FileNet), Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, and ETL, Transaction Design (OLTP, Batch), Component‑Based Design, Application Integration, and Performance Engineering.
- Demonstrates analytical and diagnostic skills when dealing with novel or undefined issues.
- Develops solutions using accepted processes or creates new approaches to leverage technology from abstract information.
