Who Are We? We insure small businesses and enable big dreams - not just for our customers, but for our people and communities too. With over 1,000,000 active insurance policies, we protect builders, bakers, landlords and more than 1,200 other trades. We’re a technology company as well as one that sells insurance. That means we build, we fail, we learn and we improve. Through our global social impact strategy, called 'The Big Dreams Project', we're working to help 10,000 small businesses start or grow by 2030.
What Is the Opportunity? At Simply Business, we're on a mission to enable big dreams for small businesses by making insurance simple, clear, and fair. As an Insurance Product Manager, you will take commercial ownership of a dynamic, high-value SME portfolio as part of the Complex & Niche team shaping tailored cover for complex and niche trade businesses that keep the UK economy moving.
What makes this role different from standard product positions? You will enjoy the agility of a scaleup backed by the reach of an established market leader. Rather than being confined solely to digital roadmaps, you will manage your portfolio like a mini business. You’ll stretch beyond traditional digital product management to shape front-line call centre strategies, partner directly with MGAs and specialist insurers, and optimise offline operational journeys.
As one of our Insurance Product Managers, you’ll:
- Lead day-to-day trading for niche commercial products, monitoring performance rhythms across new business and renewals to hit key targets.
- Expand our specialist insurer panels and MGAs to launch new covers, such as motor trades, for complex customer segments.
- Partner directly with call centre teams to refine lead scoring, customer routing, and operational journeys.
- Uphold robust product governance by leading product reviews and annual fair value assessments alongside compliance.
- Serve as the insurance product expert across wider business projects to continually improve overall customer journeys.
- Resolve operational and commercial incidents within complex customer journeys quickly and effectively.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Well-versed in commercial insurance, bringing a solid understanding of specialist market mechanics, broking, or London market products.
- A natural collaborator who can influence and build strong relationships across operations, finance, marketing, and insurer relations.
- Skilled in project delivery, with a track record of coordinating initiatives from initial concept through to operational go-live.
- Analytically minded, with a strong grasp of trading data, portfolio performance metrics, and commercial P&L drivers.
- Knowledgeable in regulatory compliance, particularly regarding product reviews and fair value assessment frameworks.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and fast-paced environments where online and offline customer journeys connect.
We encourage people of all different backgrounds and identities to apply. We are committed to maintaining an inclusive, supportive place for you to be you and do your very best work.
