Position Overview
Join our Finance team in London as a Financial Reporting Accountant, a role that combines technical accounting expertise with the opportunity to modernise our systems and provide strategic financial insights. The position involves owning the month‑end process, ensuring robust controls, and acting as a key business partner to senior finance leaders and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Master the month‑end close: calculate and post monthly journals, prepare accurate balance‑sheet reconciliations for accruals, debtors, and tax.
- Deliver management insights: prepare monthly management accounts, investigate variances and present clear financial clarity to budget holders and wider teams.
- Manage regulatory compliance: lead the delivery of multi‑framework financial reporting, complete submissions for HMRC, the FCA, ONS, quarter‑end VAT and annual PSA returns.
- Provide technical guidance: offer clear IFRS advice, draft accounting judgement papers on evolving disclosure requirements.
- Strengthen audit and controls: support internal and external audits, embed rigorous internal financial controls and ensure SOX reporting compliance.
- Act as a systems superuser: utilise SAP ByDesign and Concur for everyday journal postings, leverage Onestream for advanced financial reporting.
Qualifications
- Credentialed professional: ACA or ACCA/CIMA finalist or fully qualified, with a deep understanding of core financial accounting principles.
- Technical framework expert: proven knowledge of IFRS, exposure to USGAAP, and ability to draft formal accounting judgement papers.
- Analytical problem‑solver: strong numeric mindset, experienced in navigating complex technical issues under tight deadlines.
- Control and process‑focused: early detection of control weaknesses and confidence in implementing modern process improvements.
- Articulate communicator: capable of presenting clear, data‑driven financial insights to senior leadership and external partners.
- Advanced data and tools proficiency: highly proficient with enterprise accounting software (SAPByDesign, Concur) and Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel functions.
