We are seeking a versatile and skilled Mechanical and Electrical Engineer with a strong background in electrical systems, mechanical maintenance, welding and fabrication, and general workshop operations. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to health and safety standards and hold a valid forklift certification.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment and systems. Conduct preventative maintenance on machinery and facilities. Diagnose faults and perform timely repairs to minimize downtime.
- Electrical Work: Carry out electrical installations, inspections, and testing in accordance with relevant standards. Read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics. Ensure all electrical work complies with industry regulations and safety standards.
- Workshop & Equipment Operation: Safely operate forklifts and other workshop machinery to move equipment and materials. Maintain tools and ensure workshop cleanliness and organization.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Follow safe work practices and company safety policies at all times. Participate in safety briefings and contribute to maintaining a hazard-free work environment. Conduct basic risk assessments and report potential safety issues.
Qualifications & Experience
- Recognized Electrical Qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 2365/2330, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in both mechanical and electrical engineering roles.
- Hands-on experience with welding (MIG, TIG, ARC) and metal fabrication.
- Valid Forklift Truck Certificate (counterbalance and/or reach preferred).
- Basic health & safety training or awareness (e.g., COSHH, manual handling, risk assessments).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
