Role Overview
The Head of Technology will drive improvements in operational efficiency, client satisfaction and commercial performance by leading the development, delivery, and optimisation of technology solutions across the business for both clients and staff. The right candidate will be an experienced, proactive and highly organised technology leader, skilled in project management, strong in communication, confident in influencing change, and able to build trusted relationships while guiding teams through technical development and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Directors and management team to identify and prioritise key technology opportunities that support both short and long term business goals.
- Lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of technology projects, ensuring a clear return on investment, effective resource allocation and robust project governance.
- Oversee the development of Travel Places’ proprietary tools, including managing third party developers, together with the development of commercial opportunities.
- Oversee project planning, budget management, and scheduling, ensuring transparent communication with stakeholders through appropriate project management tools.
- Manage relationships with suppliers, ensuring system updates, enhancements, and changes are communicated effectively to internal teams and clients.
- Oversee the ongoing management and implementation of the online booking tool (OBT), ensuring smooth onboarding and strong client support.
- Lead and develop the Business Agent Solutions (BAS) team, including resource planning, performance management, and regular 121s.
- Ensure knowledge of and adherence to ISO27001, information security, cyber security, and privacy principles across the team and wider business.
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with travel technology suppliers to support operational and commercial objectives.
- Ensure staff receive relevant technical and commercial training to support their roles and the wider business strategy.
Key Requirements
- Experience in a similar senior technology or technical operations role.
- Proven experience in project management, including the use of project management tools.
- Demonstrable experience managing departmental and project budgets.
- Knowledge of travel systems and online booking tools.
- Understanding of both operational and technical aspects of the travel industry.
- Experience working within a technical environment, with exposure to software development, systems administration, or database driven applications. (Familiarity with FileMaker or similar platforms is desirable)
