Hours of work: 5 days per week on a rota basis, Monday to Sunday. Core hours 9:00am – 5:00pm, with participation in an on-call rota between 5:00pm – 9:00pm
Location: Seahouses (base office), with local travel of approximately a 40 mile radius
Your next chapter: Travel Chapter is looking for a Maintenance Operative to join our team, based from our Seahouses office. This role offers a great mix of independence, variety and pace. Seahouses will be your base for equipment, vans and team connection, while your day-to-day work will be split between working from the office and visiting our managed properties across the local area. No two days look the same in this role. One day you may be fixing a maintenance issue, the next carrying out preventative checks, supporting homeowners, or keeping outdoor spaces looking their best. If you enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving on the go and a role where you can see the impact of your work every day, this could be the perfect fit. You will need to be a confident driver. A branded company van will be provided for business use only.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Carrying out a wide range of general maintenance tasks across our managed properties
- Completing low-level gardening and outdoor upkeep, including mowing and basic grounds maintenance
- Taking a proactive, preventative approach to maintenance, identifying and resolving issues before they escalate
- Responding quickly and professionally to reactive maintenance needs
- Liaising directly with homeowners and guests, providing reassurance, updates and practical solutions
- Supporting our out-of-hours on-call rota between 5:00pm – 9:00pm, with overtime and retainer paid
- Updating systems and records accurately once work has been completed
- Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with health and safety requirements
This is a fast-moving role with plenty of variety, where organisation, adaptability and a calm approach under pressure are essential.
What You’ll Bring:
- Experience in general maintenance, including painting and decorating, basic carpentry and simple plumbing tasks
- Confidence completing low-level gardening tasks such as mowing and basic outdoor upkeep
- A practical, common-sense approach to problem solving
- The ability to communicate clearly and professionally with homeowners and guests
- Basic computer skills to update systems and records
- A full UK driving licence
- Experience re-sealing around shower trays and baths would be beneficial, as this is a regular task, but not essential.
