This is a genuinely influential leadership position within our growing Data Team. You'll take ownership of the data warehouse function, leading both the technical direction and the people behind it. Working closely with senior stakeholders across the business, you'll help drive scalable, high-quality data solutions that support everything from operational performance through to strategic decision making. We're looking for someone who combines strong technical depth with confident leadership. Someone who enjoys solving complex problems, challenging thinking where needed and creating well-structured, scalable solutions that stand the test of time. You'll be joining a collaborative and ambitious environment where your expertise will be trusted, valued and listened to.
What you'll be doing:
- You'll lead a team of Data Engineers while remaining close to the technical detail, helping shape the way our warehouse and wider data platform evolves.
- A large part of the role will focus on designing and developing robust data models and pipelines within our Snowflake environment, ensuring the business has access to reliable, scalable and well-structured data.
- You'll work across a broad range of complex datasets, partnering with teams across the business to understand challenges, improve solutions and influence technical direction.
- Alongside the hands-on technical leadership, you'll mentor and support your team, helping create an environment focused on collaboration, engineering best practice and continuous improvement.
- You'll also play an important role in shaping standards, challenging approaches where appropriate and balancing long-term technical quality with commercial priorities.
This is an opportunity to join a business where data genuinely matters. You'll have the chance to influence technical direction, shape engineering standards and play a key role in the future growth of our data capability. We're looking for an experienced Data Engineering leader who is confident operating in fast-paced, evolving environments and comfortable navigating both technical and stakeholder challenges.
You'll bring strong experience within modern data warehousing environments, with particular strength around Snowflake and advanced SQL capability. You'll have a strong understanding of data architecture and modelling principles, including experience building scalable warehouse structures using fact and dimension modelling approaches. Beyond the technical skillset, this role requires someone who can lead with confidence. You should feel comfortable influencing senior stakeholders, pushing back constructively when needed and making decisions independently. We're particularly interested in people who enjoy understanding the bigger picture – not just how data is built, but why it matters and how it supports the wider business. Experience within travel or hospitality would be beneficial given the complexity of the data landscape, but it's by no means essential.
Technical Experience:
- Strong commercial experience within Data Engineering, including experience operating in a Lead capacity
- Deep understanding of SQL and data warehousing concepts
- Strong Snowflake experience
- Experience with ELT tooling such as DBT and/or Fivetran
- Experience working with Python within data environments
- Strong understanding of data modelling and architecture principles
- Experience with AWS Glue, MySQL and MSSQL Server
- Understanding of testing strategies and engineering best practice
- Experience working within Agile environments
