Your next chapter at Travel Chapter involves strengthening our finance function as we grow. We’re looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Technical Accounting team, playing a key role in ensuring our financial reporting is accurate, compliant and insightful.
Location: Bideford (Hybrid)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours)
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to be a trusted voice within the business. You’ll sit at the heart of our finance team, supporting month-end, statutory reporting and technical accounting, while also building strong relationships across the wider organisation.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Supporting the preparation of consolidated monthly management accounts for the Group
- Owning balance sheet reconciliations, journal postings and general ledger accuracy
- Leading on IFRS-related accounting, including lease accounting and ongoing monthly adjustments
- Investigating variances and discrepancies, ensuring these are understood and resolved
- Contributing to a structured and time-sensitive month-end process, including oversight of newly integrated areas of the business
- Supporting statutory reporting, including preparation of statutory accounts and audit deliverables
- Acting as a key contact for external auditors and advisors during audit periods
- Reviewing finance processes and outputs, providing guidance and support to junior team members
- Partnering with teams across the business, particularly in areas such as vehicle leasing, to ensure accurate financial information
- Supporting payment runs and financial controls to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Maintaining statutory records and ensuring regulatory requirements are met
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and reporting
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working within a busy finance or accounts environment
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and lease accounting
- Experience preparing or supporting monthly management accounts
- Confident working with balance sheets, reconciliations and journals
- Ideally qualified (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent), although this isn’t essential
- Experience gained across both practice and industry would be beneficial
- Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems (Access is a bonus)
- A proactive, analytical approach with strong attention to detail
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, business-partnering mindset
Working with us:
You’ll be based in our Bideford office, working on a hybrid basis with around two days per week in the office. We offer flexibility in how hours are worked, including the option to work across four days. You’ll be joining a supportive and collaborative finance team, where you’ll have the opportunity to develop your technical expertise while contributing to meaningful, business-critical work.
