This role offers the opportunity to take real ownership of continuous improvement activities and make a visible impact across the business. Ideal for a hands-on and proactive lean practitioner from within engineering or manufacturing who enjoys driving change, influencing others and embedding best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for identifying, implementing and sustaining continuous improvement initiatives and supporting teams to embed a culture of CI and operational excellence.
  • Analysing end-to-end processes and workflows across departments to improve efficiency, consistency and transparency.
  • Identifying, analysing and addressing process bottlenecks, constraints and inefficiencies.
  • Implementing and leading CI initiatives and sustainable improvements, standardising these through SOPs and regular review.
  • Coaching and supporting teams in Lean and CI principles, building internal capability and supporting change management activities.
  • Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure improvements are embedded.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Proven experience applying Lean, Continuous Improvement or Operational Excellence methodologies in a manufacturing, engineering, or operational environment.
  • Practical experience of process mapping, waste identification and implementing improvement initiatives.
  • Effective communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Priority will be given to applicants with Lean, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement certification, exposure to performance metrics and experience developing and maintaining SOPs.

As well as a salary of £40-50k, the Lean and Continuous Improvement Engineer can expect:

  • Hours of work: Monday to Thursday: 8am – 5pm, finishing at 4.30pm on Fridays.
  • Holidays: 24 days annual holiday, Bank Holidays and long service scheme.
  • Additional paid day off to celebrate your birthday (after completion of probation).
