A CAD Technician with experience of design for fabrication is required for a role in the Knaresborough area. You will be responsible for producing 2D and 3D drawings for a range of standard and bespoke steel and sheet metal assemblies.
As the CAD Designer you will:
- Work with sales teams to understand project scope and ensure feasibility
- Manage full design process from initial enquiry and drawings through production to delivery
- Work with production to deliver accurate drawings, flat patterns, bend details, assembly instructions, and provide technical support to fabrication teams
- Work closely with engineers and production teams to ensure manufacturability
- Update and revise existing drawings to meet customer or process changes
- Maintain accuracy, consistency, and adherence to industry standards
- Ensure project information is maintained accurately within CRM and ERP systems
- Support continuous improvement of internal processes and systems
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor or similar
- Confident knowledge of fabrication principles, tolerances and ideally sheet metal design
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Good knowledge of materials and tolerances
- Excellent attention to detail, commitment to quality and the ability to foresee potential manufacturing issues
- Enjoy working in a detail-orientated environment
- Confident communication skills
