Reporting directly into the Partner of this established friendly Northamptonshire Accountancy Practice based the role requires a strong knowledge of accounting and tax principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to deliver accurate and timely work to clients.
The role of the Practice Accountant will be to take responsibility for managing a portfolio of clients, preparing and reviewing accounts, providing technical expertise, and supporting the development of junior staff within the firm. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax compliance
Qualifications & Experience
* ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent) or qualified by experience within practice.
* Minimum 3-5 years\’ background working within a UK accountancy practice is essential.
* Strong understanding of tax compliance (corporation tax, VAT, personal tax) – desirable.
* Team player with leadership potential.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparation and review of year-end statutory accounts.
* Preparation of management accounts and financial reporting for clients.
* Oversee bookkeeping and VAT return reviews.
* Corporation tax computations and assisting with tax planning.
* Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as the main point of contact and providing proactive advice.
* Review the work of semi-seniors and juniors, providing training, feedback, and mentoring.
* Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients.
* Ensure compliance with all regulatory and firm policies.
* Assist managers/partners with ad hoc assignments and advisory projects.
* Identify opportunities for added-value services and contribute to business development. Skills & Competencies.
The role of the Accountant requires excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Strong IT skills, including accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) You will be a Confident communicator with the ability to build strong client relationships.
