We are working with a global client seeking an experienced Buyer who will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of procurement activities. This role is highly operational, focused on order book management, expediting, supplier follow-up, and delivery performance.
This is a full-time office-based position, and your working hours will be Monday to Thursday 08:00 and 16:30 and Friday, 08:00 and 13:30.
Key Responsibilities of the Buyer- Create, place, and maintain purchase orders in line with MRP/planning signals
- Manage open order books and ensure accuracy of quantities, prices, and delivery dates
- Maintain ERP data integrity (confirmations, lead times, due dates)
- Proactively chase suppliers to ensure on-time delivery
- Expedite critical orders and resolve shortages or delivery risks
- Escalate supply issues internally and externally where required
- Communicate clear recovery plans for late or at-risk deliveries
- Track supplier delivery performance (OTD / OTIF)
- Maintain and update supplier scorecards
- Support supplier performance reviews with data and insights (this will require occasional travel nationally and internationally)
- Follow up corrective actions with underperforming suppliers
- Support shortage management meetings and daily/weekly reviews
- Communicate supply risks clearly and early to stakeholders
- Identify recurring supply issues and support root-cause analysis
- Contribute to process improvements in purchasing and supplier management
- Experience in a procurement, buying, or supply chain role
- Strong experience with order management and supplier expediting
- Confident communicator with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems
- Ability to prioritise in a fast-paced, operational environment
