Job Summary
Our client is a Kent based manufacturer of structural steelwork, balconies, staircases, metal balustrades, railings, glass systems, decking and sheet metalwork. We are currently seeking an experienced estimator to join a dynamic team, you will play a pivotal role in the pre-construction phase, collaborating closely with clients, design team, and project managers to prepare accurate cost estimates for metalwork projects of varying scale and complexity.
This is full time Monday Friday 8am to 5pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to accurately assess project requirements.
- Quantify materials, labour, and other resources needed for metalwork projects.
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates, considering factors such as material costs, labour costs, equipment costs, and overheads.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
- Review and negotiate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Participate in project meetings to provide insights on cost-related matters and contribute to value engineering efforts.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, pricing data, and project documentation.
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction phase and provide regular updates to project stakeholders.
Requirements
- Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, with a focus on architectural and structural metalwork is essential.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programmes.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
