Working for an aspirational business who have clear, structured, detailed plans to grow, resulting in long-term opportunities. Our client is looking to appoint a confident and strong people manager to assist in the management and control of all activities within the inloading and outloading areas to ensure that performance and objectives are achieved in a fully effective and efficient manner. Due to the location of our client, you will need to have your own transport. You will work Monday-Friday, 6am-3pm. With this role, there is very often overtime available particularly in the busier months, and this is paid at time and a quarter.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive team behaviours and lead by example in working towards the achievement of appropriate H&S targets.
  • Support the Logistics & Operations Manager in managing, leading and inspiring the team of Section Leaders and MSOs to drive continuous improvements and achieve the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets set across the department.
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor orders, assembly and dispatch of all produce.
  • Manage the distribution areas to monitor space availability, the condition of equipment and tidiness and cleanliness in general and take whatever corrective action is required.
  • Ensure quality performance, customer compliance and budget targets are met.
  • Liaise closely with the planning and production teams ensuring that information flows both ways and is effective.
  • Coordinate the use and compliance of automated and computerised systems and provide training where necessary.
  • Ensure distribution areas always operate within the Health, Safety and Environmental constraints required to ensure employee, contractor and visitor welfare. Implement revisions where required.
  • Ensure the site is committed to meeting the quality, safety and legal needs and expectations of customers.
  • Assist with recruitment, training, developing and retaining of staff within the team.
  • Monitor and amend the shift rotas to ensure effective and efficient shift cover when necessary.
  • Participate as a member of the distribution management team providing input to strategy and collective decision making.
  • Cover for the Logistics & Operations Manager during periods of absence and as and when required.
  • Operating a PPT & driving a forklift in accordance with the RTITB standards.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience from within a distribution business serving the multiple retailers is seen as an essential requirement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the legal requirements of operating a warehouse.
  • People management skills, including the ability to inspire, lead and motivate others, delegate and explain.
  • Planning and organisation skills.
  • Initiative and decisiveness.
  • Technical and IT skills, particularly database management and spreadsheets.
  • Problem-solving skills and an ability to work on a tactical and strategic level.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
