There is a new and exciting role opening up within Cammax to deal with the expansion of the company and software department. Cammax specialises in self-service touch screen kiosks and is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of touch screen kiosks, providing kiosk hardware and bespoke software solutions for both public and private sector companies. You will work closely with the Technical Director and other members of senior management to ensure the smooth running and management of the software department and how this feeds into the rest of the business. The team develops desktop and web-based applications, and Cammax are seeking an experienced Web Lead / Software Manager to drive ongoing product development while embedding security-by-design principles and industry best practices.
Cammax are a dynamic and rapidly growing SME in the transport and parking sectors, producing innovative self-service ticket and payment systems, associated software, and services. Cammax designs and manufactures touch screen kiosks at its purpose built factory in Castleford. We have a range of standard kiosks and also produce bespoke designs. We develop the software applications and customise kiosk hardware and peripherals as required. Cammax employs a nationwide team of engineers who carry out site surveys, system installation and comprehensive on-site maintenance. Cammax is excited to be part of the Modaxo family. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the software development and testing team
- Work with management to set strategic direction of the team
- Process improvement, team structure, staffing and role development
- Own and enforce security standards and best practices for all back-office systems
- Guide the team on secure web application development (OWASP Top 10, threat modelling)
- Build a culture of maintaining documentation for the use of building, installation, configuration, and maintenance of systems
- Maintain standards to create clean, reusable code that results in high-quality production deliveries
- Responsible for the quality and technical approach taken by team members, ensuring it is in-line with the company strategy – and that projects are delivered on time
- Mentor the team and plan for team growth considering the blend/level of skills required within team
- Undertake software design reviews and provide guidance to other developers if necessary
- Assist in the refinement of specifications and requirements
- Assist in ensuring the requirements are met and appropriate test plans are created and followed
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Superior analytical, risk assessment and problem-solving skills with sound technical judgment and negotiation skills
- Ability to understand the impact of change from the customer’s perspective
- 5+ years of experience with web-based technologies (currently ASP.NET and JavaScript)
- Proficient at interacting across all levels (i.e. executive, departmental, and field)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including explaining complex technical concepts to all parties
- Excellent interpersonal, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong technical capability
