With over 1,000 employees and a £150m turnover, we’re growing and now looking for experienced Civils Operatives to play a key role in our project delivery teams on our clean water site near Brede in East Sussex.

Role Overview
As a Civils Operative you will assist site teams with general civils construction operations, hand digging around complex services, drainage, pipe laying, concrete, maintaining site cleanliness, transporting materials, and ensuring compliance with health & safety standards.
Applications are welcome from skilled groundworkers and machine drivers (360 / dumper) who are interested to join us on a long‑term basis.
What You’ll Be Doing
Technical Responsibilities – Site Operations
- Reporting to foremen; general civils construction operations.
- Drainage, pipe laying, concrete work.
- Hand digging around complex services.
- Promotion of safety within a safety‑critical environment.
- Holding permits to work, etc.
Safety, Health, Environment and Quality
- Follow all site health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Report hazards, unsafe conditions, and near‑misses to supervisors.
- Participate in toolbox talks, site briefings, and site inductions.
- Assist in maintaining site standards, cleanliness, and organisation.
- Identify obvious defects or issues and report them to supervisors.
- Report any incidents, near‑misses, or safety concerns to Ganger or Site Engineer.
Stakeholder Communication
- Work under the supervision of the Ganger, Supervisor or Site Manager.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and report issues promptly.
- Support the team to meet daily targets and maintain site efficiency.

What We’re Looking For
Essential
- CSCS card.
- Reliable, responsible with a strong health and safety awareness and work ethic.
- Right to work in the UK; sponsorship not available.
Desirable
- CPCS / NPORS 360 above / below 10 tonne.
- CPCS / NPORS Dumper & Roller.
- NVQ Level 2 in Civil Engineering / Construction / Groundworks.
- Confined Space Awareness.
- EUSR Water Hygiene.
- Previous experience in a relevant construction operational role (3+ years).
