Responsibilities:

  • Support monitoring of project budgets, expenditure, and forecasts.
  • Assist in managing subcontractor contracts, payment applications, and variations.
  • Assist in preparing cost reports, cash flow updates, and commercial summaries.
  • Adhere to company procedures and client requirements at all times.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with company standards.
  • Maintain accurate records to support final account preparation and audits.
  • Support procurement activities and ensure compliance with head contracts.
  • Identify and flag potential commercial risks for review by Senior / Managing QS.
  • Participate in training and development programmes to gain commercial and contract management skills.
  • Work towards professional qualifications (e.g., RICS / CICES).
  • Gain exposure to multiple projects and commercial management processes.

Key interfaces include Senior / Managing Quantity Surveyor, Project Managers / Project Directors, Site Managers / Engineers, Finance and Procurement Teams, Subcontractors and Suppliers. Essential Qualifications:

  • A-levels (or equivalent) in Maths, English, or STEM subjects.
  • Commitment to learn and work towards RICS / CICES membership.
  • Good numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisation.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under guidance across multiple projects and sites.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous internship or placement experience in construction or engineering.

With over 1,000 employees and a £150m turnover, we’re growing and now looking for an experienced Apprentice Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in our project delivery teams. As an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor you’ll provide support with cost estimation, subcontractor administration, contract administration, and financial reporting whilst supporting the Quantity Surveyor in managing the financial and contractual aspects of projects.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Technical Responsibilities – Commercial Support:

  • Assist in administering contracts under the guidance of QS staff.
  • Support preparation and management of variations, compensation events, and change orders.
  • Learn to interpret and apply contractual obligations for projects and sites.
