Due to continued growth and major project wins, Trant Engineering is looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to join our expanding Energy Division. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a portfolio of critical national infrastructure projects, delivering large-scale civil engineering works across substations and compressor stations throughout the UK.

Role Based from our Head Office in Southampton, you will manage up to three projects at any one time, balancing office-based leadership with regular site engagement and flexible home working. A typical week will include:

  • 2 days in the office
  • 2 days on site
  • 1 day working from home

Reporting to the Framework Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, commercially, and to the highest quality standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading and overseeing multiple live civil engineering projects within the Energy sector
  • Supporting and mentoring Project Managers to drive delivery excellence
  • Working closely with SHEQ, commercial, design, planning, and site teams
  • Providing strong commercial and programme leadership across your portfolio
  • Acting as the main client interface, attending meetings and reporting on progress
  • Leading bid and tender activities within the Energy Division
  • Driving innovation, compliance, and continuous improvement across contracts
  • Producing accurate monthly reports for senior management

What We’re Looking For

  • BEng or HND in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Contracts Manager role
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
  • Proven experience delivering large civil engineering projects
  • CSCS card
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites
  • Experience in substation environments is desirable but not essential
