We are currently recruiting for a role in our Energy sector, where we deliver critical infrastructure engineering projects throughout the UK. The Technology Design Manager will be responsible for designing and delivering complex security systems (e.g. CCTV surveillance, access control, perimeter intrusion detection) on critical national infrastructure projects, including but not limited to National Grid sites. This role ensures that security solutions are technically sound, compliant with industry standards, and meet the client's protection requirements. They act as the bridge between client security needs and the engineering teams.
Applicants should fit the criteria to obtain UK security clearance, either holding or being eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC). This means having a 5-year UK residency and background that can pass government vetting. Applicants must also have the right to work in the UK without limitations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Being responsible for end-to-end security design on energy infrastructure projects.
- Leading Security Design Projects; overseeing the creation of detailed design proposals for electronic security systems (video surveillance, access control, fence/perimeter detection, etc.).
- Ensuring designs meet the client's protection requirements and industry standards.
- Developing solutions from concept through to detailed design.
- Improving designs for efficiency and cost-effectiveness without compromising security.
- Coordinating with stakeholders (clients, law enforcement, consultants, Trant Design Team), to deliver designs on time and within budget.
- Overseeing the security plan implementation, risk assessments and technical reviews to assure protection of sites.
- Serving as the technical authority to ratify and approve security system designs.
- Ensuring all designs comply with relevant British standards, regulatory requirements and any client-specific requirements.
- Remaining involved through implementation, supporting system commissioning and testing.
- Conducting site inspections to understand on-the-ground conditions and integrate those insights into the design.
- Identifying vulnerabilities and recommending enhancements.
- Monitoring the progress of security enhancement programmes and integrating emerging security technologies as part of continuous improvement.
Qualifications/Background:
- BEng/MEng in relevant engineering discipline i.e. Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- Previous/current experience of delivering security system design.
- Demonstrable expertise in CCTV, access control and intruder detection system design.
- Knowledge of critical infrastructure security standards within the UK.
- Ability to read and produce technical drawings.
- Experience of National Grid projects would be advantageous.
- Advanced knowledge of design packages such as Autocad.
- Fully IT literate.
