With over 1,000 employees and a £150m turnover, we are growing and now looking for a Civil Site Supervisor to play a key role in our project delivery teams.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Civils SCO91 Authorised Person to support works on National Gas Transmission (NGT) infrastructure projects across Hampshire and the South Coast region. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the safe control and coordination of civil engineering activities on high-pressure gas transmission assets, including compressor stations, AGIs, and associated pipeline works.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Technical Responsibilities - Site Supervision
- Act as the SCO91 Authorised Person, controlling and coordinating permits for site activities
- Implement and manage Safe Control of Operations (SCO) procedures on National Gas sites
- Issue and manage: Permit to Work (PTW) Forms of Authority (FoA)
- Ensure all works comply with: National Gas Transmission procedures, IGEM/GL/6 requirements, CDM Regulations and HSE standards
- Coordinate civil subcontractors and site teams, ensuring safe sequencing of works
- Carry out site inspections, audits, and safety briefings
- Maintain accurate documentation for permits, isolations, and control systems
- Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality & Compliance
- Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies on site
- Conduct daily toolbox talks, risk assessments, and site inspections
- Report incidents, near misses, and hazards promptly and accurately
- Maintain accurate records of daily site activities, including work progress, inspections, and material usage
- Support QA/QC processes to ensure compliance with company and client standards
- Assist with site handovers and defect management
- Stakeholder Communication
- Act as the first point of contact for on-site queries from operatives and subcontractors
- Provide regular updates to the General Foreman or Project Manager
- Liaise with clients, inspectors, or other site visitors when required

- Internal Interfaces: General Foreman / Site Manager, Principal Contractor, Client representatives, Authorising Engineers
- External Interfaces: Subcontractors & Suppliers, Clients / Consultants, Regulatory Authorities / Local Authorities

What We’re Looking For
- Essential
- Valid SCO91 certification (National Gas Transmission)
- Proven experience working on NGT / National Grid Gas Transmission projects
- Strong understanding of: Safe Control of Operations (SCO), Permit to Work systems, Registration on the National Gas / EUSR database, SHEA Gas certification
- Civil engineering / utilities background (groundworks, pipelines, AGIs, etc.)
- Excellent knowledge of site safety procedures and compliance requirements
- Strong communication and leadership skills

- Temporary Works Supervisor / Coordinator
- SMSTS or SSSTS
- First Aid at Work
- Experience on: Compressor stations, High-pressure gas infrastructure, COMAH or energy sites
