The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the technical delivery of projects assisting in design, construction, commissioning, and documentation, ensuring technical compliance, safety, and quality standards are maintained. The Project Engineer works closely with site teams, clients, and internal stakeholders to support successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Responsibilities
    • Assist in the preparation, review, and interpretation of drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
    • Provide technical support to site teams during construction and installation activities.
    • Identify and escalate technical issues or potential risks to Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager.
    • Coordinate with design engineers, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure constructability.
    • Review design submissions and provide comments or recommendations.
    • Support implementation of design changes and revisions as required.
    • Ensure completion of procurement in line with the project programme.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure all engineering activities comply with UK HSE regulations and company standards.
    • Contribute to risk assessments, method statements, and toolbox talks as required.
    • Maintain accurate records of technical activities, site progress, and inspections.
    • Assist in preparation of reports, technical submittals, and project documentation.
    • Support commissioning and handover documentation preparation.
    • Support site teams in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Act as a technical point of contact for site teams and subcontractors.
    • Liaise with internal teams, clients, and consultants regarding project requirements and progress.
    • Assist in planning and scheduling of project tasks in coordination with the project team.
    • Monitor progress on-site and report deviations to Senior Project Engineer.
    • Support quality control and assurance activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Process, or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Understanding of UK engineering standards, codes, and regulations relevant to water and process projects.
  • Health & Safety awareness relevant to construction and engineering projects (e.g., SSSTS or equivalent preferred).
  • Proficiency in technical documentation, drawings, and basic project software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project).
  • Proven experience as a Project Engineer or in a similar technical role on water, municipal, or industrial process projects.
  • Experience providing technical support to site teams and assisting with design coordination.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing project documentation, drawings, and technical reports.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with UK HSE regulations and project quality standards.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification or specialized training in water, wastewater, or industrial process engineering.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary project teams across municipal, industrial, or water projects.
