The successful applicant will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide therapeutic care to service users at Clifton House. The post will involve working with service users 1:1 level as well as part of the team in activities such as person centred care, ward activities (therapeutic groups), community-based activities and key professional meetings.
The successful applicant will be expected to work over a 7-day period which includes nights and shift work. There is mandatory training via face to face and online modules, with scope for professional development. The role includes supervision, wellbeing support, and core values that all employees are expected to uphold. Staff are supported through policies and procedures to maintain quality patient care.
Leeds and York NHS Partnership Foundation Trust are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Health Support Workers to join our team. We are currently recruiting to our Forensic Inpatient Service at Clifton House. The York Forensic Inpatient Service consists of 3 wards which provide care for people experiencing acute mental health issues.
As a Health Support Worker, you will be expected to work with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team to provide care to people with mental health needs. The successful candidate will be positive and enthusiastic, calm and confident when dealing with the needs of the service users. Excellent communication skills and the ability to form and sustain therapeutic relationships with people with mental health needs are essential.
You will have excellent communication skills and will demonstrate a genuine interest in mental health and be committed to involving service users in all aspects of their care. The role requires the candidate to support the care, assessment, interventions and activities for service users.
The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and other highly specialised services across the country. As a teaching trust with strong links to local universities, we are a centre of excellence for teaching, research and development.

A flexible approach is required as this post involves working flexibly over a 24-hour / 7-day period. We will offer you an induction and a continuing written appraisal and the opportunity to complete the care certificate, supported by regular supervision. Informal visits to the ward are welcomed.
All applicants to this post will ideally hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma / NVQ in healthcare, or possess skills, knowledge, and experience to an equivalent level. If the qualification is not held, the Trust may require starting this (or a Level 3 qualification) within 6 months of commencing in post unless extenuating circumstances exist at the discretion of the Recruiting Manager.
