Leeds and York Partnership Foundation Trust are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Health Support Workers to join our team. We are currently recruiting to our Forensic inpatient service at Clifton House in York. The successful candidates will work within a multi-disciplinary team providing high quality care, treatment and rehabilitation of patients on Riverfields Ward, part of the male inpatient service.

Responsibilities

  • Able and willing to work flexibly, to meet the needs of the service.
  • Passionate about working with patients with complex mental health disorders.
  • Able and willing to work with patients who may have offending histories without judgement and with positive regard.
  • A flexible approach is required as the post involves working flexibly over a 24 hr / 7-day basis. You must be able to work a variety of shifts including night shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications

  • Have good verbal communication skills and an excellent understanding of how to build rapport with patients, carers and others as required.
  • Understand the possible barriers in building a good, effective, professional, empathic relationship with patients, and to be aware of strategies to help improve communications and relationships.
  • Act as a positive role model showing professional and caring attitudes and behaviour towards other multidisciplinary team members, patients and carers.
  • Have experience of working with a range of patients with complex mental health needs and understand how mental unwellness can affect a person ability to cope and function.
  • Be patient focused/person centred in your approach.
  • Encourage patients to be involved in all aspects of their care.
  • Build therapeutic relationships with patients and engage in activities with patients.
  • Be willing to undertake Prevention and management of violence and aggression training.

  • Applicants should be aware that individuals requiring a visa to work in the UK: the Trust only provides sponsorship for registered healthcare practitioner roles (this does not include Healthcare Support Workers). This is an essential requirement, and the Trust is unable to offer you a role if you do not meet Trust requirements for sponsorship and Home Office requirements for a visa.
  • You will be able to demonstrate genuine interest in mental health / neurodiversity and be committed to involving service users in all aspects of their care. The role requires candidates to support the care, assessments, interventions and activities for service users.
