The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 ÂŁ per year.
To oversee and support the Fleet Manager and teams of their allocated depots to ensure the activities of the engineering department deliver a consistently reliable, safe, high quality and punctual service in line with specified targets, contractual obligations and commercial objectives. To ensure depots are working effectively within budgetary targets. The role is accountable for all aspects of fleet and facilities management and the health, safety and wellbeing of employees, visitors and contractors. This role will be based at Southall Garage, travel between sites will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Work harmoniously with the operating and performance team.
- Support and manage the performance of the operating depots within TUKLB, to ensure the highest standards are reached and maintained to enable TUKLB to meet and exceed its contractual obligation on a consistent basis.
- Ability to manage and lead large teams across multiple operating sites, via various performance key metric measures and management strategies.
- Ensuring the depot teams are identifying, and rectifying vehicle fault trends to improve performance.
- Ensuring all legislative requirements are satisfied at all time.
- Providing evidence-based performance reports on vehicle and department performance to the business to drive operational improvements and ensuring assets are performing to the optimum level.
- Working with the depot teams to ensure the assets are being maintained in line with guidelines, identifying and implementing improvements when identified to drive a high level of performance.
- Lead role in formulating and delivery department budgetary and performance targets, and delivery of the plan with the depot teams.
- Managing and addressing issues with the cleaning contract directly with the supplier to ensure the vehicles are at the level required to provide customers with the environment required to encourage public transport use.
- Take a leading role in Health & Safety and Environmental management to enable a safe working environment for all employees and customers.
- Working with vehicle and infrastructure providers on vehicle and equipment issues as they arise.
- Building good working relationships to improve performance and address problems in a timely manner.
- Maintain collaborative and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Always being an advocate and ambassador for the TUKLB business.
- Carrying out any other reasonable task required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Excellent understanding of the road passenger transport sector, including all relevant legal and external regulations and requirements for the safe operation of passenger carrying vehicles.
- Excellent working knowledge of all daily site procedures, engineering processes, health and safety regulations, DVSA standards, and people management practices.
- Have a passion to lead by example and motivate a team to achieve high standards of performance.
- Flexible approach to working hours – able to attend out-of-hours where required to meet service delivery and business requirements, and to be able to respond quickly to any “on-call” requirements.
- Have a duty of care for the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues at all times, including a duty to report, and where necessary resolve, unsafe acts or omissions to safety.
- Ability to work with Operations, Performance and Engineering colleagues in a collaborative manner.
- Experience of managing, developing, leading and motivating staff to produce high quality work.
- Membership of a recognised professional engineering body is desirable.
- Able to demonstrate a suitable level of engineering competence required to operate at a senior level and make technical, financial and ethical decisions regarding safety, compliance, employee relations or asset management matters.
