We are looking to recruit a Senior Consultant into the Master Planning & Urban Space team of our Transport Planning Business in either the St Albans (Hertfordshire) or London Aldgate offices.

You will work within a large, collaborative team and support the delivery of strategic transport planning projects across the UK and globally.

Your role will be transport planning focusing on pedestrian modelling and/ or traffic microsimulation modelling, working mostly with public sector clients, and providing technical advice.

In this role you will work closely with our Principal Consultants and Associate Directors within the Master Planning & Urban Space team, you will be expected to guide and assist junior staff in effectively delivering project data.

You will need to have knowledge and demonstrable experience of technically leading pedestrian modelling/ traffic microsimulation projects and be proficient with developing models, undertaking calibration and validation, producing reports and presentations, and have some experience of project management and supervisory skills.

The successful Consultant will join a growing Transport Planning team that is actively involved in the delivery of projects and services to a range of both local and national clients including Network Rail, Transport for London, as well as a global reach in the sports and mega event space which offers the opportunity to work on a range of unique projects., As a Senior Consultant, you will need to provide support to Principal Consultants and Associate Directors on technical, managerial and financial matters, and also provide support in mentoring junior staff in terms of enhancing their technical skills and professional development.

You will be expected to help prepare scope and fee estimates for new projects and to ensure projects are delivered to budget and that KPIs are met.

  • Relevant BSc/MSc/BEng Civil Engineering or Transport planning degree
  • Membership or working towards membership of a chartered professional institution e. g. CIHT, TPS, CILT
  • Keen to work as part of a team and to develop and progress career development
  • Experience in using pedestrian modelling software such as LEGION and/ or traffic microsimulation software such as Vissim
  • Project management (delivering medium or large transport planning projects)
  • Business development and proposal preparation
  • Experience of delivering projects within budget
  • Supervision of workload and support to junior staff
  • Client contact and liaison
  • Experience in producing reports to a high technical standard
  • Passionate about delivering high quality transport planning projects for our clients
  • Excellent numeracy, verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience of presenting to project teams
